Mill Hill 0

Harpenden 79

Mill Hill suffered a 70-point mauling for the second successive Saturday, when they were hammered by leaders Harpenden, having previously crashed 70-0 to Letchworth.

Their troubles began in after only three minutes when hooker Steve Cracknell had to leave the field with a recurrence of a neck injury, and Vic Buss took over in his first appearance for the senior side for several years.

Three minutes later Harpenden opened their account with a well-taken try.

From the restart, Mill Hill drove into their opponent's half, but lost the ball in a maul, allowing the Harpenden scrum-half to progress into the 22, chip over the defence and score the second try.

Whenever Mill Hill got near the visitor's line, after winning some good ball they would surrender possession through conceding a penalty. From a scrum against the head, Harpenden went over for their third try and they added three more in six minutes for a 41-0 interval lead.

The second half followed a similar pattern, Harpeden adding six more tries.
