A NEW scheme offers young people on the Isle of Wight the opportunity to learn skills, gain a nationally recognised qualification and boost their career prospects.

The aim of the Prince’s Trust TEAM Programme is to give young people aged 16 to 25 a better chance of moving into employment, education or training.

The free programme, delivered by UKSA and YMCA, includes a five-day multi-activity residential at UKSA in Cowes, two weeks’ work experience and a community challenge.

Team leaders will help with job hunting and writing a CV and give participants the chance to make a difference in their community.

The programme is also available for young employees looking to develop new interpersonal skills to improve long-term career prospects.

The course, which starts on October 1, will be delivered from YMCA Winchester House, Shanklin, and UKSA.
