THREE schools have been highly praised in a recent Ofsted report for good teaching standards and exam successes.

Preston Manor High School, in Carlton Avenue East, Wembley, St John's C of E Middle School, in Green Lane, Stanmore, and Kilburn Park School, in Malvern Road, Brent, all received recognition from inspectors.

Andrea Berkeley, headteacher at Preston Manor High School, attributed the success to outstanding teamwork.

"We are successful in our results in all stages [from Key Stage 3 through to GCSE and A-levels] and have shown an upward trend, improving year on year over the past five years.

"I think we have also been named for producing good results despite an intake which could be seen as a disadvantage, as we have a higher than national average of pupils on free school meals and a high number of pupils with special educational needs. We are a strong team and feel we have all worked really hard together."

Kristine Uttley, headteacher of St John's Middle School, said: "I think we have a very strong sense of identity and purpose which helps us to work as a team for the good of the school."

Kilburn Park School was recognised for coming in the top five per cent nationally for Key Stage Two results, for the excellent care of its pupils and for providing excellent value for money.
