Ron Isaacs considers vicar Nigel Taylor to be prejudiced when he objects to the activities of a local spiritualist (Times Letters, February 15).

Mr Isaacs questions whether or not this is scriptural. Like Mr Isaacs, I am neither an Anglican nor a spiritualist (in fact I am a Christadelphian).

But I'm happy to point out a number of passages in the Bible which allow no room for spiritualism, such as Leviticus 19:26 and Deuteronomy 18:9-14.

The Bible also says that the dead are entirely unconscious in the grave and will stay that way until Jesus's return.

I'd like to assure Mr Isaacs that Christianity is the world's most gentle religion, but it can't depart from the principles and teachings set out in its rulebook, the Bible.
