There was an air of unreality about the letter (September 2) on the Crystal Palace plans.
Of course there is nothing illegal about a council selling public open space for a crude, unimaginative, unsustainable development that looks nothing like the original Crystal Palace and that will cause massive increases in traffic and close local shops.
No doubt they would be much happier if no-one complained and we all rolled over and allowed them to do what they wanted regardless.
The rule of the law might let local authorities and their agents do this sort of thing, but that doesn't necessarily make it right or beneficial.
Anyway, I'd better not continue in case, as your previous correspondent suggests, people abandon common sense, society crumbles and we all become anarchists.
