Finchley Victoria's trio of Albert Hooper, Pat Hunt and Derek Hall cruised into the third round of the Finchley and District BA triples with a 23-10 win over Terry Doe, Alan Waisman and Alan Lessey (Bishopswood).

Victoria's weekend fixture at West Finchley was abandoned due to torrential rain afer 17 ends, with the score very much favouring the home side.

Finchley Victoria Ladies again did well in the North London and Hospitals competitions.

In the North London pairs, Hall and Newman beat Holtewhites 18-15; Green, McMillan and Chapman won a close encounter with Southgate 15-14 in the triples, but Hill, Moores and Sly were beaten 27-25 by Broomfield.

Hall, Newman and Hills beat Bushhill Park 17-15 in the Hospitals triples.

The week began disappointingly for Mill Hill with a 33-29 Prentice Cup defeat by their next-door neighbours HGH.

Away to Bounds Green in midweek, Mill Hill lost narrowly 60-55.

Mill Hill rinks and scores: Krause, Woolf, Gore and Brant won 22-16. Rowlands, Howse, Sutton and Clatworthy lost 16-26. Ekstrom, Langstone, R Smith and Cherry lost 17-18.

At the weekend, a four triples match against Temple Fortune was abandoned after 14 ends due to torrential rain.

Mill Hill Ladies played well for a 45-36 away win over Kenton.

Mill Hill rinks and scores: Russell, Walsh, Davies and Carr won 28-15. Telfer, Jackson, Bowman and Bailey lost 17-21.

Up on both rinks, East Barnet Valley won 42-32 away to Laings in the South Hertofshire Area League.

EBV scores: Harris, T Greenwood, B Greenwood, Chapman won 23-14. Williams, Hill, Francis and Curtis won 19-18.

But EBV were beaten 37-33 by Cockfosters in the Prentice Cup.

At home: Gibson, Watford, Francis, Chapman won 23-14. Away: Harvey, Williams, T Greenwood, K Hill lost 10-23.

Away to Jubilee Park in a midweek mixed triples match, EBV won 78-45.

EBV scores: Collins, White, Linnett won 21-12. Sieloff, Catanach, Finlayson won 18-12. Steadman, Hosford, Boniface won 14-10. Humphrey, Harvey, Hill won 25-11.

Potters Bar Men lost 68-51 away to Welwyn District.

Potters Bar rinks scores: Brown, Oats, Read, Butler won 14-12. Walman, Massey, Bolton, Lebaigue drew 16-16. Fox, Shadwell, Stout, Whittle lost 14-16. E Marriner, Penn, Hill, Bryan lost 7-24.

Potters Bar were also beaten in their away game with St Albans Townsend, who won 94-57.

A third defeat came against Holtwhites, who won 48-30.

But Bar broke the sequence with a 34-27 away win over Finchley.
