TOOTING RESERVES 1 BANSTEAD ATHLETIC 0

Tooting and Mitcham Reserves notched up their third win in a row with this victory over bottom-placed Banstead Athletic, on Saturday.

New boy Toma Efejuku headed the only goal of the game from a Luke Ferguson corner after 62 minutes.

The visitors rarely troubled Tooting keeper Paul Murphy but he was called on to make a good save from former Sandy Laner Mark Trelevin midway through the first half.

Neither side looked like scoring in the second half in a match dominated largely by windy conditions. But it was Tooting who grabbed the all important winner.

They have now won four of their six matches and on this form could be contenders for promotion.

The first team also had a successful weekend. They won 2-0 at Wokingham to record their second consecutive win.

They entertain Wivenhoe on Saturday and travel to Bedford on Tuesday.

There is no game for the reserves at the weekend but they play host to Dulwich Hamlet on Tuesday night.

See the Putney News for details of all these games.
