A small group of Ealing teachers has been invited to a Buckingham Palace reception in honour of their outstanding work.

The six primary and secondary school teachers went to the Royal reception last week, after achieving particularly high levels of performance, or considerable improvements in standards at their schools.

They are:

Mike Mirams, chairman of governors at Fielding primary School in Wyndham Lane is well known for his education initiatives across the borough.

Margaret Ulloa, deputy headteacher of Featherstone Primary School in Southall has shown dedication to the spiritual development of children in Southall.

Elizabeth Broadgate, head of drama at Cardinal Wiseman High School in Greenford produced and directed 60 youngsters from seven Ealing schools in 'Our Town Story', performed at the Millennium Dome in January.

Elizabeth Walton, headteacher of Horsenden Primary School in Greenford has developed learning strategies with her pupils through an understanding of emotional intelligence.

Pat Cottis, head of PE at Walford High School has worked with able-bodied, disabled and disaffected youngsters for 25 years.

Debbie Straughn, a year team leader at Acton High School. She has been an outstanding role model for her pupils for 15 years.
