HIGH volumes of traffic were blamed for big tailbacks and bus delays this afternoon between Newport and Ryde. Southern Vectis said its Route 9 buses were running more than ten minutes late due to the weight of pre Bank Holiday weekend traffic.There were also reports of heavy traffic at Downend and Briddlesford Road and car ferries reported large numbers of scooterists coming to the Island for their rally, which centres on Ryde.Reporter: richardw@iwcpmail.co.uk
