YOUNG people on the Isle of Wight have been busy raising money for Comic Relief, in preparation for Friday's Red Nose Day.
Mitch Hamer, 18, from Stag Lane, Newport, decided to do a sponsored headshave last Friday at Beresford's Barbershop in Cowes.
"I just love Comic Relief, so this year I wanted to do something big," said the Cowes Enterprise College student, who raised £198.
Meanwhile James MacDonald, 11, raised £275 by holding a bake sale and a design a red nose competition at Nine Acres Primary school in Newport.
Last week, the youngster held a bake sale at his grandparents' home of Somers Brook Court in Newport — and on Tuesday, James went the extra the mile, when he held a sponsored silence for 12 hours.
His mum, Sarah MacDonald, said: "James said he wanted to support Red Nose Day because he heard all about the different causes supported through Comic Relief and he wanted to try and raise as much money as he could to help.
"As his mum I'm proud of the way he thinks of others and really pleased he has done so well. Thanks to everyone who supported him for their generous donations."
