ORIENT were unlucky to take only a point from a pulsating north east London derby clash with Barnet on Saturday (Chris Bevan writes).

Meetings between the two sides have a history of producing memorable matches and this game at Underhill was no exception.

The 2-2 draw was enough to secure the Bees' play-off place but when Billy Beall put the O's 2-1 ahead with less than five minutes left, it looked like Tommy Taylor's side would win all three points.

But Barnet are made of stern stuff and bounced back to level with a penalty after Matt Joseph had fouled Fraser Toms.

The equaliser spoiled what had been a good day for Taylor. The O's boss said: 'We threw it away. We were excellent for 45 minutes of the second half and picked up the goal we deserved but then we went to sleep straight afterwards.

'We had two marking one for the penalty but neither of them did anything. I thought Joseph won the ball. The ref was on the wrong side but he gave it.

'Apart from that I was pleased. It was a good performance, we had plenty of chances to score and we did enough to win it.'

A travelling Orient contingent of 1197 was almost too much for Underhill to hold and there were some unpleasant scenes as the game got underway.

After filling up the away end, many O's fans were herded into a separate standing enclosure and some over-exuberance resulted in scuffles with police.

On the pitch Orient were also having an uncomfortable time with dazzling Darren Currie causing havoc on both flanks.

He set up the home side's first goal, crossing for Mark Arber to stoop and head past Ashley Bayes on 34 minutes.

But the O's settled down after that set-back and deservedly levelled before half-time.

Iyseden Christie was brought down by Greg Heald just inside the box and Matt Lockwood fired home from the spot.

The O's were on top after the break and Christie, Beall and Steve Watts all saw went close before Beall blasted the second.

Christie's cross wasn't properly cleared and when the ball fell to Beall on the edge of the box he rammed home a powerful shot.

That should have been enough to clinch the win but the O's were caught napping by Tom's break?away and Paul Wilson did the rest from the spot.
