Several articles and letters in last week's edition of the Borehamwood & Elstree Times grabbed my attention.

I wholeheartedly agree with your reader who questioned bringing Big Brother to the film studios. Who does pay for the policing? Where are the extra police? Does Borehamwood lose out because of the traffic and parking problems? Thank heavens we are getting controlled parking in Bullhead Road at last. We suffer enough with Who Wants to be a Millionaire?.

Is Hertfordshire County Council's motto 'Build, build, build as long as it's not in our backyard'? To build on Woodcock Hill in addition to the Fire Research Station, Furzehill School and the Gate Studios sites is madness. More roads are needed to cope with these already traffic-congested areas. Increase the housing and reduce the bus services seems a good policy.

Why shouldn't the county council demolish Maxwell Park Community Centre, as the borough council has already done the same with The Venue, which belonged to the people of Elstree and Borehamwood? We are nothing but second class citizens of Hertfordshire.

How can saving £400,000 on business rates, but providing a £560,000 subsidy be a good business proposition ? Hoping to encourage more people to use leisure centres means providing other facilities, not just health clubs. How about a multi-purpose theatre and hall? It would only require a £500,000 subsidy.

Keep up the good work of letting people know what is happening in this borough with their money.
