CAMPAIGNERS battling against plans by the Isle of Wight Council to shut down libraries and have them run by community groups have lost their fight to appeal the council’s decision in court.
At London’s High Court today (Tuesday) a judge rejected the campaigners' plea to have the decision heard by the High Court in a full judicial review.
*Richard Beet from Bembridge Library Users Group (BLUG) said "We are more than disappointed to report that the judicial review has been rejected because of the delay caused by the Legal Services Commission and because of 'difficult circumstances' affecting the defendant.
"BLUG and its partners will continue to fight for a fair deal for Bembridge Library users to ensure that volunteers will not be responsible for the costs."
