THE UP and Down Kite Festival, cancelled in June due to bad weather, will now take place in September.

The event, organised by the New Carnival Company and Natural Wight, will be held at Bembridge Down on September 15, from 2.30pm.

It will feature an array of colourful kites, handmade from biodegradable materials, a free fly zone, stunning aerial displays by professional kite artists Sky Bums and other outdoor entertainment and workshops.

There will also be a kite walk to the site from Yaverland car park, along the coastal footpath, starting at 2pm.

Workshops were held at schools and community centres across the Island throughout May and June, giving people an opportunity to make their own nature-inspired kites for the festival.

Extra workshops will be held at the Carnival Learning Centre, Westridge, on September 12 and14, from 6pm to 8pm.

For further details, contact the New Carnival Company on 717868 or at info@thenewcarnivalcompany.com
