Car crash youngster died of brain injury

Evey Rose Staley, who died following a car crash on the Isle of Wight.

A YOUNG girl killed in a crash near her home on Friday, died from a traumatic brain injury, an inquest opening at Isle of Wight Coroner’s Court heard today (Thursday).

Evey Staley, of Cowes Road, died when a Ford Puma collided with the vehicle she was travelling in, which had just pulled out of their driveway.

Evey's father, Neal, was driving, her mother, Penny, was a front seat passenger and Evey was a rear seat passenger, the inquest opening heard.

A post mortem confirmed the cause of death was a traumatic brain injury from a road traffic accident.

The inquest was adjourned to date to be fixed by Isle of Wight coroner Caroline Sumeray.

Evey’s parents remain in a serious but stable condition at St Mary’s Hospital.

Police are investigating the crash and have arrested the driver of the Ford Puma on suspicion of dangerous driving.
