FIREFIGHTERS were called to Carisbrooke Castle last night (Saturday) after a car burst into flames.

A crew from Newport was called to the scene, at the castle car park, after the owner of the car called for help shortly before 9pm.

The vehicle was well alight when the crew arrived, according to a spokeswoman for the Isle of Wight Fire and Rescue Service.

Firefighters spent around 20 minutes extinguishing the blaze.
