A FIRE and rescue crew was called to a report a driver was trapped after an accident at St John’s Road, Ryde, earlier this morning (Wednesday).
Firefighters were called soon after 8.20am to a report of an overturned car on the railway bridge, which disabled traffic lights.
Firefighters discovered the driver had managed to free herself by the time they arrived.
Police organised diversions and paramedics attended the scene.
A spokeswoman for the Isle of Wight Council said engineers were on scene to deal with the damaged pole, however the traffic lights were still in operation.
She said the situation should be resolved by lunch time.
