AS CAR shows go, it was a real classic, organisers said.
The 11th Isle of Wight International Charity Classic Car Show Extravaganza hit the road at the weekend at Newport Quay and was staged at Ryde’s North Walk and Esplanade the following day.
It drew big crowds.
More than 800 cars took part from all over the UK and the Island, the cream of the car crop judged to be Vectis Historic Vehicle Club chairman Peter Hodgson’s 1967 Austin Healey 3000 Mark III.
The event saw 73-year-old Sally Vinson reunited with her father’s old Rolls Royce — a reunion organised by show organiser Vic Gallucci.
Sally had not seen 'Ada', so-called because of her registration ADA 888 — a 20/25 model built in 1934 — since the 1970s.
Mr Gallucci said: "I think this was our best and biggest show and next year we hope will be even better still.
Work has already started on organising 2013."
The event was sponsored by Wightlink, the County Press, Isle of Wight Council, Ryde Town Council, Paul Jones Insurance Services and Morris Lubricants.
It raised funds for the Earl Mountbatten Hospice and St Catherine’s School for young people with communication difficulties at Ventnor.
