SPURS had several players on international duty this week ahead of another crunch Premiership game against Newcastle.

Les Ferdinand scored for England B and was accompanied on the field by Darren Anderton and Ian Walker.

England B won the game with ease 4-1, Matt Le Tissier scoring a hat-trick to add to Ferdinand's strike, but it was not such a happy night for Spurs number two keeper Espen Baadrsen.

He left the field with a broken nose while playing for Norways under-23 side against Scotland.

Baardsen collided with Dunfermline striker Andy Smith and came off second best.

But Tottenham should have a full strength squad for Saturdays home game against the Toon Army, a match that could decide which division they play in next season.

Should they lose Spurs could drop into the relegation zone but Barnsley, who are probably the only other club in the bottom four capable of surviving, have to play Arsenal and Manchester United in a run-in from hell.

Spurs will be confident of a win against Kenny Dalgleishs men and Ferdinand, Ruel Fox and David Ginola will need no extra motivation against their old club.

However, Alan Shearer will be gunning for glory in a head-to-head with his England team mate Sol Campbell and hoping to add to his goal tally, which at present is fairly meagre by his standards.

He will also have been boosted by his performance for England against Portugal on Wednesday night.

Shearer scored two goals, the second of which was straight from the top drawer, and just to sicken Spurs fans further, old boy Teddy Sheringham got Englands third in the 3-0 victory.
