Work to reconstruct the bridge leading to the car park behind Newberries Parade in Radlett is due to start on Monday.

During the work, which will take about seven weeks to complete, the existing bridge will be demolished and replaced by a new bridge. For most of the time the car park will remain open to vehicles via a single lane, prioritised access across the bridge. Pedestrians will have access across a temporary footbridge next to the road bridge.

However the message from Hertsmere Borough Council -- which is carrying out the work -- is that the car park will have to be closed for a 48 hour period between midnight on Monday November 9 and the same time on Wednesday November 11. The closure is for safety reasons but has been kept to a minimum to avoid disruption. The recycling facilities currently next to the bridge will be relocated within the car park until the work is finished.

A council spokeswoman said: "Every effort has been made to minimise the disruption for car park users and your co-operation during this essential work programme will be greatly appreciated."
