MULTI-MILLION pound plans to rebuild Carisbrooke College will go before the Isle of Wight Council planning committee next Tuesday.
Councillors will discuss the plan to bulldoze large parts of the existing school and replace it with a new two and three-storey building with associated landscaping.
The new build would significantly reduce the size of the under-subscribed school to 600 places. The current building has the capacity for more than 1,000 students, but serves only about 650.
Planning officers have recommended granting the proposal conditional permission.
Financial support will come from the Education Funding Agency, after the school, with support from the Isle of Wight Council, successfully put together a business case for the rebuild.
