A CREATIVE retelling of an Isle of Wight legend won prizes for Carisbrooke primary school pupils in the first day of the 'Be Your Best Southampton J Rock' competition yesterday (Thursday).
Carisbrooke CE Primary School pupils took second place in the junior version of the acclaimed dance and musical competition Rock Challenge, for their performance of 'The Pepperpot'.
The youngsters' performance, which told the story of William de Godeton who was ordered to build the Pepperpot, or the St Catherine's Oratory, as a penance for smuggling, also won four prizes for excellence.
The judges awarded the prizes to the school for use of the stage, concept, soundtrack and for entertainment value.
The event for seven to 11 year olds was held at the Southampton Guildhall.
