Cars collide in East Cowes

ISLE of Wight Fire and Rescue crews were called this afternoon (Wednesday) to reports of smoke from a car that was involved in a collision in East Cowes.

Police were called at 1.59pm to the junction of Beatrice Avenue and Victoria Grove after two cars collided and a fire spokesman said crews were called at 2.01pm as smoke was coming from one of the car's bonnets.

A police spokesman said no-one was trapped.

*At 3.40pm Isle of Wight Fire and Rescue Service said the car had not been on fire.

One casualty was taken to St Mary's Hospital.
