Cash boost for sports clubs

SPORTS clubs on the Isle of Wight are to benefit from thousands of pounds of grants.

The Isle of Wight Council announced today (Tuesday) that its sports development unit had launched a 'Grow Your Club' grants programme.

A spokesman said sports clubs were invited to bid for grants of between £200 to £1000 to be used to build a legacy and improve the clubs.

Under the first round of grants, 15 sports clubs and organisations have been awarded funding and a presentation evening is to be held at The Heights Leisure Centre in Sandown on Thursday, next week.

The unit is accepting invites for a second round of funding. To apply, email to request an application form, or ring 823818.
