Cash for Cumbria appeal

ISLAND Rotary has joined a national appeal for cash donations to help people in Cumbria who have been left homeless by floods.

Thousands of people had to evacuate their homes last week in some of the worst flooding ever seen in Cumbria, prompting Rotary clubs across the country to launch an appeal.

All Island Rotary clubs have joined in and contact has been made with Rotary clubs in the Cumbrian towns of Cockermouth and Keswick, two of the worst hit by the floods.

"In the first instance we want to raise as much cash as we can and when we know what the people in Cumbria need we shall set up another appeal for donations of items," said Bill Wyke, of Island Rotary.

Anyone wishing to donate money can contact Bill on 01983 405471.
