YOUTH organisations across the Isle of Wight have received between £5,000 and £25,000 to provide youth services for the next year.
The cash was allocated by the Isle of Wight Council as part of its youth offer.
As reported, the authority no longer provides youth services directly. Instead, community organisations are invited to bid for youth offer cash to run their own services, providing social opportunities as well as employment and other skills.
Kathy Marriott, the area director for children and families, told yesterday's (Thursday) meeting of the council's children's committee the move had proved successful as more young people were engaging with youth services than previously.
Of the 36 applications for the funding, the following 12 were successful:

South Wight Area Partnership — *£15,000
Ryde Town Council — £20,000
Ventnor Town Council — £19,941
Revive Newport — £19,800
