Three men charged with perverting the course of justice following the death of Hendon sandwich bar owner Dean Willeatts, appeared before an Old Bailey jury on Tuesday.

James Day, 23, brother of Billy Day who began an 11-year sentence in December for the manslaughter of Dean, along with Desmond Rose, 30, of Vincent Square, Tottenham, and Gregory Perell, 50, of Brent Street, Hendon, deny the charges.

Howard Vagg, prosecuting, said the men had helped dispose of a pistol and ammunition belonging to Billy Day after he shot and injured himself.

He said: "They together or individually assisted in the disposal of a firearm, bullets and money from the scene of the shooting (of Billy Day) after April 4."

He went on to say that after the shooting Billy Day told his brother to get rid of the gun and bullets. James Day, of John Keats House, Wood Green, got the spare keys to his brother's shop from Perell and recruited Rose to dump them in a stream near the River Lea, said Mr Vagg. The trial continues.
