HIS Royal Highness, The Prince of Wales, visits Guru Nanak Football Club tomorrow as part of a day-long visit to the borough.

The prince will be discussing the Nuclear Electric League club's efforts to combat racism and their plans for the future.

"We are absolutely delighted that His Royal Highness has chosen to visit our club and see how we are taking forward the Kick Racism Out Of Football campaign," said chairman of the club, Nirmal Dingri.

Prince Charles will also meet the managing director of Charlton Athletic, Peter Varney. Charlton have a good record of developing race relations within football and Guru Nanak hopes to form links between the two clubs.

Mr Dingri said Guru Nanak plans to establish a centre of excellence to develop young footballers in north west Kent and particularly encourage Asians to play the game.

"Our efforts to work in partnership with Charlton Athletic will undoubtedly be boosted by the visit," added Mr Dingri.

The Prince will meet local dignitaries including the Lord Lieutenant of Kent - Lord Kingsdown, MP for Gravesham Chris Pond and patrons of Guru Nanak before entering the sports complex in Khalsa Avenue, where he will be introduced to members of the football club.

He will then watch members of the club's senior and youth teams take part in a football coaching session.
