Chain ferry hit by disruption

THE floating bridge between Cowes and East Cowes will run an amended service this weekend due to operational issues.

From 10pm tonight (Friday), the chain ferry will be replaced by a launch service which will be operational until 11pm for foot passengers only. Vehicles will be diverted via Newport.

Tomorrow (Saturday), from 5am to 10.30am, the launch service will stay in operation, then from 10.30am to normal finish time at 12.30am (Sunday morning) the chain ferry will be operational for foot passengers, cyclists and emergency services vehicles only.

Diversion via Newport will be in place for all other vehicles.

On Sunday, from 5am to 12.30am (Monday morning) the chain ferry will be operational for foot passengers, cyclists and emergency services vehicles only. Diversion via Newport in place for all other vehicles.

Normal service will resume on Monday.

The Isle of Wight Council apologised for any inconvenience caused.
