The Bromley Boy Singers leave other choirs in their wake with their rollicking rendition of The Golden Vanity. They are performing a semi-staged version of Britten's nautical musical, originally written for the Vienna Choirboys, as part of their annual summer concert.
It tells the salty, satirical tale of the adventures of a British ship which meets Turkish pirates in the North Sea.
The sailors face disaster as the canon fails to fire but the cabin boy bravely saves the day.
For those who like things a bit fluffier, the choir is also performing an adaptation of Saint-Sans Carnival of the Animals.
The Summer Concert is on Saturday, July 14, at Bromley Parish Church, Church Road, Bromley, starting at 7.30pm. Admission costs £2 to £5. For more information, call 01689 896971.
