A SPORTS equipment and charity shop, raising money for the Isle of Wight Youth Trust, will open in Newport in September.

Sporting Chance, in Town Lane, will specialise in second-hand sports and exercise equipment.

The trust has begun accepting donations of equipment, which will be sold to raise money for its counselling work with youngsters.

Director Eileen Monks said: "Sporting Chance could appeal to lots of different people, whether they want to try out new sports and fitness activities but don’t have the funds to buy new equipment, or whether they want to get involved in several sporting activities and find it impossible to buy new equipment for all of them.

"This could be a fantastic opportunity for people wanting to get active and also for those athletes who have finished using their sports equipment and want to recycle them."

Anyone who can donate equipment can phone the trust on 01983 529569 or e-mail info@iowyouthtrust.co.uk
