ANYONE interested in becoming a retained firefighter on the Isle of Wight will be able to find out more at two information events this month.
The Isle of Wight Council said it was looking for new recruits for the service and said potential applicants were advised to attend one of two sessions, to be held at Ryde Fire Station on Saturday at 10.30am and on Tuesday at 6.30pm.
They will be able to find out more about the role, the recruitment process and selection test.
Recruits must be over 18 years old, physically fit and possess good communication skills, the council said.
Your current employer must sign a consent form allowing you to leave your workplace at any time for operational reasons, and you need to live and work close to your local fire station.
Although no formal qualifications are required, a good standard of literacy and numeracy will need to be demonstrated, the council said.
Further information and application packs are available here.
The closing date for applications is Monday 7 April at noon.
