COWES Business Association (CBA) is on the hunt for street entertainers to perform in the town’s High Street during the summer.

School bands, youth groups, puppeteers, magicians face painters as well as musicians are being asked to bring their talents to the town in June, July and August during the sailing regatta season.

Regattas range from the Round the Island Race, Cowes Week and the Visit Isle of Wight Festival of the Sea.

There is no need to apply for a licence as the CBA has already made arrangements. All entertainers need to do is to contact Maddy at Green Buoy Arts, on the High Street, or pop into the gallery when it is open on Wednesdays to Saturdays.

There will be designated busker points for the regattas and these do need to be booked so the association can ensure a wide variety of acts.

Walking acts are also welcome.

The CBA is also looking for businesses willing to sponsor the Cowes Week street entertainment.

Anyone interested can contact Sam Jenner or Maddy Dobson at cowesbusiness@yahoo.co.uk or maddy@greenbuoyarts.co.uk

Added entertainment, great. I have seen Street Entertainers all over the World and am so glad that it has come to the Island. A brilliant violinist in Lisbon, Diggery Do players in Sydney, 'Statues' in Iceland and Gibraltar etc etc., they all add to the entertainment. Some 'statues I saw in one place defied gravitation ............................... ;-)
