Gracie-May Fuller. Picture by Laura Holme.
A CHARITY ball in aid of Gracie-May Fuller and the Joe Ellis Trust has been cancelled due to poor ticket sales, organisers have confirmed.
The event was due to take place on Friday next week, at Cowes Masonic Lodge, Castle Road, Cowes. Full refunds are being given to people who bought tickets.
It had been hoped the ball would help with efforts to raise £15,000 needed to fund an operation for Gracie-May, of Shanklin, who has quadriplegic spastic cerebral palsy.

Such a shame to see the Gala Ball cancelled. However, like people before me have already mentioned, there are many deserving causes. Choosing the ones which are more deserving than others is not a job I would like to take on. Like Colin, if I had the money they could all have what they needed. I think it is probably a little unfair to ask the CP to decide on the most worthy causes as well. I think these appeals can only be put forward & then it is up to the public to decide which ones they feel they would like to support.

I am sorry to see this but I have to ask the question, 'Where do you draw the line?" I am afraid that there are too many appeals on the County Press site, each one a deserving case. And before anybody has a go at me, yes I do put my hand in my pocket to the tune of the Air Ambulance on a regular bank payment and to a combined charity cause on a monthly bank payment. And yes I have subscribed to these on the County Press site, but County Press, can we have a few less please? I feel sure that if there were less, the Gala Ball would NOT have had to be cancelled.Which ones to drop? The less deserving ones. Which ones are those? One for the County Press to decide.
