Charity challenges Island young people

A CHARITY has challenged young people on the Isle of Wight to complete a host of fundraising challenges.

Alongside its new 26-mile night hike event, Challenge the Wight, Island charity Challenge and Adventure has created a junior event involving 32 challenges — including riding a bike, baking a cake and climbing a tree — to be completed over four months.

Charity and Adventure events manager and event organiser Karen Eeles said the charity hoped the varied list of challenges would be something children can complete at home or with their schools.

Karen said: "We provide a challenge grid with eight challenges a month which run from March to June. Every time the child completes a challenge they put a sticker on the grid.

"We ask the child to record their challenge, if they want to, either by drawn picture, photo or written account."

Everyone will receive a sponsor form and tent-shaped loose change box to collect donations. Once all the challenges have been completed each child will be presented with a Challenge the Wight medal.

This sounds a very good project - I hope the young people on the island will take part?
