THE chief executive of UKSA has announced he is leaving the Cowes based charity.

Jon Ely has been part of UKSA for 22 years, six of which have been as chief executive.

Chair of trustees David Lister said in a statement: "We are sorry to announce that, after 22 years, chief executive, Mr Ely, has decided that it is time to take up new challenges and is leaving UKSA.

"We would like to take this opportunity to thank Jon for his hard work and dedication. He has done a wonderful job of shaping UKSA into the widely respected youth education charity it is today. His vision has resulted in thousands of young people, from all walks of life, achieving their goals.

"Everyone at UKSA joins the trustees and directors in wishing Jon continued success in the future. With the full backing of the trustees, UKSA directors Ben Willows, Daryl Pride, Erica Howard and Simon Davies will take over the running of the charity. It has been agreed that due time and consideration should be given to succession planning.

"Whilst we regret having to make this announcement, we know UKSA remains in very capable hands and we look forward, with anticipation, to the next stage in the charity's growth and development."
