Charity shop calls for donations

By Jon Moreno - Wednesday, February 10, 2010

NATIONAL charity the British Heart Foundation is appealing to Island householders to remember to continue to donate items — maybe unwanted Christmas gifts — now that the extreme winter weather has passed.
The BHF, which has shops in Newport, Ryde and Shanklin, is desperate to replenish its stock having struggled to do so during the severe weather that struck the Island earlier this month.
Stock donations are the lifeblood of BHF shops. They help the BHF to fund research, patient care and life-saving equipment in the fight against heart disease, which continues to be the nation’s biggest killer.
Angie Vidler, area manager for the BHF shops on the Island, said: "We can arrange free collection to ensure unwanted goods are still making it into BHF shops and making a difference to heart patients."
Good quality clothing, handbags, shoes, books, DVDs, CDs and bric-a-brac are particularly wanted. To find your nearest shop to arrange collection  go to the website, bhf.org.uk.
