THE Ventnor charity which helps children and young people with speech, language and communication difficulties, has been chosen for fundraising support by Sainsbury’s.

St Catherine’s School was selected as the Newport store’s charity partner by customers and staff.

Sainsbury’s staff will support St Catherine’s by giving their time to the charity through volunteer work.

The store will also organise fundraising activities throughout the year.

Funds raised will go towards the purchase of specialised equipment which is an expansion of the school’s vocational training project, The Worx, and developing activities and projects to support their learners move toward more independent living.

Sainsbury’s Tanya Blake, who was involved in the selection process, said: "St Catherine’s really stood out as a charity we could really benefit through volunteering and fundraising."

Sainsbury’s store manager Paul Dyer said: "We are really pleased and excited to support St Catherine’s.

"The hard work starts now but I can see our store building a strong relationship with the school and making a difference to their work."
