Charity to benefit from film premiere

AWARD-WINNING actress Sheridan Smith will be on the Isle of Wight this evening (Friday) for the gala premiere of a film produced by Dominic Minghella.

The screening of The Scapegoat, in which Olivier award winner Sheridan plays the character Nina, is being held at Medina Theatre.

The film has been produced by Dominic and his partner Sarah Beardsall and the premiere is being held in aid of the Isle of Wight Branch of the Motor Neurone Disease Association, of which his mother Gloria is president.

The film has been based on a book by Daphne Du Maurier and also stars Matthew Rhys.

As well as the screening, there will be a pre-screening reception where the film will be introduced by Dominic and Sarah and there will be a question and answer session with members of the cast and crew.

A town square, in John Street, Ryde was due be named after Dominic's Oscar-winning brother Anthony Minghella this morning, however the dedication is understood to have been postponed.
