OLD Wilsonians, having been humbled by Sydenham the previous week when dismissed for a paltry 52, bounced back to form with a crushing 166-run victory over Old Elthamians in their Forester Kent League Division Three match at Chislehurst on Saturday.

Batting first, Old Wilsonians amassed a formidable-looking 240-4.

Their openers had put on 54 before Paul Sherwin was caught behind for 28, but Richard Harris and Hamantha Alles gave good support to Rob Harris, who was the star of the show with a magnificent 137, thrashing the Elthamians' bowling around all parts of the ground before the declaration came to spare the home side any more embarrassment in the field.

But there was soon plenty of red faces when they batted as Alles ripped through with a superb spell of 8-29, seven of which were clean bowled.

Only Julian Guthrie, who made a creditable 28, offered any resistance against the Sri Lankan paceman.

Old Wilsonians' second X1 were set 203 against HSBC at New Beckenham, but they had to thank a spirited 32 from Matt Corrigall he had earlier taken three wickets as their last pair denied the home side the win they deserved when closing on 85-9.

But the club's Sunday X1 scored a convincing 103-run win over Crusaders.

Batting first, Old Wilsonians made 211-7 with Matt Corrigall again in good form with bat and ball. He scored 68 and took 4-11, and was supported by Rod Warboys' 4-34 as they dismissed the Crusaders for only 108.
