WITH several schools on the Isle of Wight due to close next week due to a teaching strike, the YMCA has stepped forward to offer emergency childcare.
The strike is due to take place on Thursday, October 17, as teachers protest over pay and pensions.
YMCA Nurseries announced today (Friday) that they would be able to provide care for some families affected by the strike.
The Newport nursery, based in the grounds of St Mary's Hospital, can accomodate children aged up to eight years ago, while its Shanklin nursery at Winchester House, Sandown Road, can accept children aged up to five years old.
To arrange a place, contact the nurseries in advance, on 525423 (Newport) and 861073 (Shanklin). Opening hours are from 7:30am to 6pm.
