Chilly swim for cancer charity

Last year's Boxing Day swim at Ventnor.

ORGANISERS of the 32nd annual Boxing Day swim at Ventnor are urging swimmers to get sponsored and raise money as they dip.

The swim is organised by Ventnor cancer charity People’s Approach To Cancer Help (PATCH) and founder and trustee Erika Arnold wants swimmers to use the chilly challenge to raise funds for the charity, which supports Island cancer patients, including covering travel costs to treatment on the mainland.

Erika said: "First and foremost we want everyone to have fun when they swim but it is a fund-raising event for us and we’d love people to get sponsored.

"The event costs PATCH to organise, many people help us out on the day and we appreciate all the help and support we can get."

Sponsor forms can be collected from Inspirations, in Ventnor High Street, or by calling 01983 853174 or 01983 855519.

The swim starts at noon from the middle of Ventnor Esplanade.
