All of last Saturday's local Ryman League programme was lost to the weather.

Croydon FC's Premier Division trip to top of the table Gravesend and Northfleet was left right up until one hour before kick off with the players in the dressing room.

In Division One, the rain denied Dulwich Hamlet their home fixture with Thames United and Whyteleafe's home game with Ford United was washed out. Croydon Athletic's home game in Division Three was also cancelled.

In contrast the previous Saturday saw plenty of goals but 13 of them found the back of two of our local Ryman team's nets.

Whyteleafe conceded eight while Croydon Athletic let five in. Croydon FC conceded just one goal but failed to score in the Premiership.

The gold star for the day was reserved for Dulwich Hamlet in a fine away win at Wealdstone.

Croydon Athletic travelled to AFC Sudbury for their FA Vase tie and were well beaten 5-0, with Gary Bennett scoring a hat-trick.

Athletic started brightly until the 29th minute when Cheetam scored followed by the second goal on 43 minutes by Owen.

Athletic attacked strongly in the second half but with gaps appearing in the Athletic defence, Bennett helped himself to a second-half hat-trick and dumped Athletic out of this fourth round Vase tie.

Croydon FC lost at home to the ever-improving Purfleet 1-0 in the Premier Division.

Purfleet scored with 10 minutes to go when a dubious penalty was awarded against the home side and converted past young goalkeeper Andy Parkinson, who had a magnificent game.

The result dropped Croydon into second last position and battling to avoid relegation.

In Division One Whyteleafe had no answers for table toppers Aylesbury United in the 8-0 away defeat.

Three goals came in the first half and five more in the second with Bangura claiming a hat-trick.

The Division One competition saw the only win of the day for local teams when Dulwich Hamlet beat Wealdstone away 3-1 to begin steady progress up the table.

After going a goal down on 30 minutes, Hamlet's luck changed just before half-time when Wealdstone defender Horner headed past his own keeper for the equaliser.

The second half saw Dulwich take full advantage of their luck and goals from Dave Steven and Declan Perkins gave Hamlet the points.

Local Ryman League Fixtures for Saturday, February 2: Premier Division: Croydon FC home to Aldershot Town. Division One: Dulwich Hamlet away to Aylesbury United; Whyteleafe Away to Bognor Regis Town. Division Three: Croydon Athletic away to Epsom and Ewell.
