UPDATED WEDNESDAY 09:31*

A STRETCH of Isle of Wight esplanade has been blocked following a cliff fall.

The Isle of Wight Council said contractors would be sent to clear the debris from the Sandown/Shanklin Esplanade and it was hoped the route would be open by Tuesday evening.

Two trees came down in high winds last night (Monday) blocking Cockleton Lane, Gurnard, but were cleared later that night.

*Sandown Esplanade was re-opened by this morning (Wednesday) the Isle of Wight Council confirmed.

Omg how can you turn a little debris in to a link to fracking? And council action.
It's a minor incident and where ever there are hills etc things fall! But you see is as an opportunity to blame.

If a volcano erupted in Newport you'd want answers and someone to finger point.

This will get cleared a lot faster than Totland to Colwell sea wall, as thats a minor disruption compared to replacing the sea wall.... Bets are on as to how long it takes.
