The Ks cruised into the second half in the lead, courtesy of a piece of Gallic magic from striker Amara Simba, but seriously lost concentration just after the hour allowing their visitors to strike twice within a few minutes and grab all three points, extinguishing their lingering relegation worries.

The good news for the Surrey club was the return of winger Phil Wingfield and another outing for striker David Leworthy.

Kingstonian made the best possible start, when in only the second minute a good run by Junior Kadi set up Simba on the edge of the Missioners box but his drive was deflected for a corner.

Hayes responded on seven minutes, when Jason Goodliffe just failed to connect with a high cross from out on the right.

A minute later, a harmless throw-in by Colin Luckett on right was picked up by Amara Simba.

The French forward darted along the edge of the away box and then let loose a powerful drive which keeper Paul Gothard at full-stretch could do nothing about.

The visitors had their hands full until the 20th minute when wing-back Lee Flynn's corner created a few problems in the Ks goalmouth, which saw a Dave Stevens back heel only just blocked by Steve Farrelly.

With two minutes of the half remaining, Charles threaded a ball through to Steve McKimm into the Ks box.

Luckett was adjudged to have given him a nudge in the area and the referee pointed to the spot.

Up stepped Stevens for the spot kick, but he blasted it too close to Farrelly who saved the penalty.

Five minutes into the new half, a long free-kick by Flynn saw Mark Harris head clear for a corner taken again by Flynn.

The ball came back to the Hayes wing back and his low drive flew through a forest of legs and Farrelly did well to hold.

On 53 minutes, a Pitcher corner saw Eddie Saunders head over from close range.

On 62 minutes, a Luckett cross from the right found Gary Drewett just inside the Hayes box.

He chipped the ball neatly into the path of Simba, but Gothard intercepted the ball quickly to stop a certain goal.

It looked like the ever reliable Ks defence would hold on for the win once again, but they fell to a set piece sucker punch on 68 minutes.

A harmless looking long free-kick by Hayes sub Barry Moore, found Lee Flynn behind the Ks defence, and he headed home of the far post.

With the Ks in disarray, they were cracked again on 71 minutes, when the classy Lee Charles darted into the Ks box and slid the ball past the outcoming Farrelly.

Two minutes later, Ks almost to got back into the game when Simba set up Pitcher on the Hayes penalty spot, but Gothard at full-stretch got a hand to the midfielder's drive.

With eight minutes remaining, Wingfield set up Pitcher out on the left. The Ks man darted into Hayes box but his low drive was blocked, and Kadi blasted the rebound over from 20 yards.

On 86 minutes however, it didn't matter anymore, when a cross from Mark Boyce found man-of-the-match Lee Flynn on the far post, and his low header was too much for Farrelly.

On target for a top five finish

Ks maintained their hopes of a top five conference finish with a battling 3-2 away win over Hednesford last weekend (Saturday)

After Eddie Saunders had struck the post with a header Geoff Chapple's men nearly fell behind after 25 minutes when Lee Colkin headed just over from close range.

Two minutes later Ks grabbed the lead when Geoff Pitcher reacted well to a loose ball from a Joe O'Connor volley to head home at the far post.

Neil Davis levelled for the hosts on the half hour heading home from an Ian Robinson free kick.

Then, at the other end, Ks regained the advantage three minutes later when Gary Drewett scored his first league goal for the club, lobbing Stuart Ford from 25 yards.

Both sides never really got going in a drab second half that resembled two teams wanting to finish the season.

Mid-way though the half Mark Harris extended the Ks' lead, heading home from Colin Luckett's left wing cross.

Hednesford reduced the arrears in injury time when sub Stewart Airdrie fired a crisp shot from the edge of the area, which Steve Farrelly could only push into the direction of Davis - who bagged his 22nd goal of the campaign.
