MORE than 100 people have backed an Isle of Wight bar, which is to have its licence reviewed next week.

A report to the Isle of Wight Council’s regulatory committee details a petition signed by 77 people and 27 letters from patrons in support of the Wight Rock Bar, Ryde, which faces a licence review after noise complaints.

The council has also received four letters supporting a review of the licence.

The committee, which will meet on Thursday, next week, will decide whether conditions could be imposed to protect neighbouring properties from late-night noise from bands.

It has the power to suspend a licence for three months or revoke it, but the report states environmental health officers are confident conditions could be put in place to control noise.

They include setting already installed noise limiting equipment at a specified level and imposing a requirement for a sound check before any live or recorded music was played.
