MORE than half a century of captivating and fascinating photographs snapped by Ron Goodearl have gone on display at an exhibition at Wycombe Museum.

Entitled Roving Lens, the exhibition includes pictures of famous sights in the county and tells the story of ordinary folk.

The late Mr Goodearl bequeathed his collection to The Star's sister paper, the Bucks Free Press, in 1998 and now the museum is using them for the third exhibition of his life and career.

James Rattue, assistant museums officer at Wycombe Museum, in Priory Avenue, said: "Local people know the museum best for its displays about the history of the High Wycombe furniture industry but in fact it is also responsible for the whole of Wycombe district.

"To reflect this, and in response to requests from our visitors, we have selected over 60 pictures from all across the area. Most of the villages are represented in some way and the majority will be new to visitors.

"There is everything from a wet Wycombe Show to chickens on the rampage at Bledlow Ridge and Arthur Askey at Bourne End railway station."

The exhibition runs until March 16.

The museum opens from 10am to 5pm Monday to Saturday and 2pm to 5pm on Sunday.
