A MAN has appeared in court after cocaine with a street value of £90m was seized off the Isle of Wight.

Piotr Pachina, 33, of no fixed address, appeared at Portsmouth Crown Court this week, where he had denied possessing a Class A drug.

He has said he had no idea cocaine was on board the yacht Balia, which was stopped by the UK Border Agency last June.

Co-defendant Thomas Dylik, 48, has already admitted drugs offences in connection with the case.

As previously reported, UK Border Agency officers stopped the yacht off St Catherine's Point and escorted it to Portsmouth, where the vessel was searched and drugs discovered.

The trial continues.
