A NATIONAL coffee chain is to open a new Isle of Wight branch.
Plans have been submitted for Costa Coffee to open in the former Millets store in St James Square, Newport.
Millets closed in January after 25 years.
Costa, which is owned by hotel, pub and restaurant chain Whitbread, already has concessions in Spar shops around the Isle of Wight, as well as outlets at Ryde Pier and Tescos.
The coffee chain has almost 1,400 stores across the UK.
The plans are available to view on the Isle of Wight Council website and people have until September 21 to comment.
