PEOPLE across the Isle of Wight put the kettle on in support of Macmillan’s World’s Biggest Coffee Morning.
There were events held all over the Isle of Wight on Friday and Saturday in aid of Macmillan Cancer Care.
At Lower Hyde Holiday Park, Shanklin, fundraisers sold more than 1,000 cakes and raised £5,242.89, including a £1,500 donation from Barclay’s Bank.
Among the other coffee mornings was a well-supported event held at Holyrood Hall, Newport, on Saturday.
The event, which raised £700, included stalls, candy floss and a raffle where the top prize was two Bestival 2014 weekend tickets.
One of its organisers, Natalie Connor, said: "Macmillan Cancer Care is a very worthy cause. Cancer touches the lives of so many people and Macmillan’s nurses do such a wonderful job.
"Hopefully, we can find a bigger venue for next year’s Macmillan event and raise even more money."
See the Isle of Wight County Press on Friday, October 5, for a round-up of the Island’s Macmillan events.
